>> The first episode of Glee season 2 will feature the cast singing tracks by Jay-Z, Lady GaGa, Beyonce and Travie McCoy. The new series hits US screens on September 21 and in typical style they’ll be some big hits belted out. According to Rolling Stone magazine Jigga’s Empire State Of Mind, B and G’s Telephone and McCoy’s Billionaire will all be covered in the comeback episode. Poison’s Every Rose Has Its Thorns will also be sung by the students along with tracks from musicals The King and I and Dreamgirls. Musical director P.J Bloom revealed Gleeks are likely to get more songs from Lady GaGa over the series. He said: “(creator) Ryan’s a huge Lady Gaga fan, I suspect we’re going to continue to look to her to be part of the show.”

On Saturday night, Jay made Beyonce's birthday one to remember by hiring out New York eatery The Darby, where celebrity pals Kayne West, P Diddy, Serena Williams and Alicia Keys joined the couple. An insider told the New York Post newspaper: “Jay brought a six-layer cake out for Beyonce, they were really affectionate. Cassidy played Stevie Wonder’s 'Happy Birthday’. The party went on until 6 am. “Both Jay and Beyonce's moms were there, but there was no sign of her father or her sister. Diddy was the last to leave. Jay filled the room with orchids." Jay loves to shower his wife with gifts, so we're willing to bet there was some kind of diamond surprise for her as well. So cute! Happy Birthday B!

Lawsuit Against Beyonce Dismissed By Los Angeles Superior Court

>> A lawsuit against Beyonce and a video producer by a man who said access to his Mt. Olympus home was blocked for hours during a video and still photography session for the R&B singer/actress was dismissed. Philip Markowitz sought unspecified damages from the singer and producer Dina Ciccotello on private nuisance and trespass allegations in the lawsuit filed May 28 in Los Angeles Superior Court. However, lawyers for Markowitz filed papers last Thursday asking that the case be dismissed. The documents did not state whether a settlement was obtained. The attorneys could not be immediately reached. According to the suit, the video shoot for the Beyonce song "Why Don't You Love Me,' with a crew of about 30 people, took place March 26, beginning about 7 a.m. and lasting until 11 p.m. The plaintiff said the activity made it difficult for him to come and go, and he had to get an off-duty officer to "guide him past the obstructions.' Markowitz was "disturbed all day with noise and his dog barking at the crew while they trespassed on his driveway,' the suit stated. Markowitz said that when he demanded compensation for his inconvenience -- he had previously received $10,000 for use of his property -- Ciccotello told him the shoot had a low budget and the payment could only be approved "in concept.'

>> What happened when Mark-Anthony Turnage brought R&B to the conservative hallows of the BBC Proms? It began with a bang: skirling woodwind and dissonant brass fury. Nothing that unusual for a BBC Proms world premiere. But then audience members at the Royal Albert Hall last Thursday suddenly sat up. Some rooted through their programmes, looking vainly for confirmation; others glanced around in disbelief. Were they hearing this right? Was the esteemed BBC Symphony Orchestra really playing Beyoncé's Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)? The piece in question was Hammered Out, by 50-year-old British composer Mark-Anthony Turnage He is well-known for his love of jazz, funk and soul, and had promised influences from James Brown and Tower of Power. The only clues that this piece might carry anything more concrete were coy hints in interviews with BBC Radio 3 – "there are a couple of hidden things, but I'd quite like other people to find them out rather than me saying them" – and his publisher – "this is my most R&B work to date". Turnage told me he put the Beyoncé reference in as a nod to his young son, Milo, who loves dancing to Single Ladies, but it's more than just a quote. Indeed, the riffs and rhythms of the pop source infect every aspect of the orchestral work. So was it really that hidden? Every audience member I've spoken to spotted the reference immediately. Yet, surprisingly, Turnage says he thought it would go largely unnoticed. To an extent he was right: none of the press reviews mention Beyoncé, although critics may have assumed that their ears were deceiving them. In rehearsals some of the younger players made the spot, but agreed to keep it to themselves. In the event, the Proms audience were hipper than even Turnage gave them credit for. Read more...

Jay-Z Will Not Replace Mathew Knowles as Beyonce's Manager

According to a statement posted by the singer's management website, Music World Entertainment, Beyoncé's father, Mathew Knowles is not being replaced by Jay-Z or anyone else as her manager. "Contrary to false rumors online, Beyoncé and her manager Mathew Knowles unequivocally have had and continue to have a close personal and business relationship. Mathew Knowles is the sole and exclusive manager of Beyoncé," the statement reads. Mathew Knowles has always played an important part in his daughter's career, dating all the way back to her days in Destiny's Child. When the group split in 2005, Mathew continued managing Beyoncé as well as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. But Rowland and Williams recently parted ways with Knowles and his Music World Entertainment team. Earlier this year, he also denied claims that the trio were in talks to reunite Destiny's Child. Aside from refuting the online rumors, it has been confirmed that the singer is working on upcoming music projects. "Furthermore, Beyoncé is readying the release of her new, highly anticipated DVD and has started the recording process for her new album," the statement concluded.

The singer was having fun racing along the ocean but fell into the sea, fully clothed, and had to be helped back on to her ride by one of her minders. Wearing a floral mini dress, sunglasses and big hoop earrings, Beyonce looked dressed more for a night out than for a high speed race on the ocean. But as she skidded atop the waves she lost her balance and ended up falling in. Proving she really is Sasha Fierce she wasn’t deterred and scrambled back on to her ride for more fun. Beyonce and husband of two years, rapper Jay-Z are currently enjoying a Mediterranean cruise. Maybe as an early birthday present for Bey as she celebrates her 29th birthday on September 4. The couple have rented a 180-foot luxury yacht named The Altitude for £240,000-a-week. Having travelled around the Italian resort of Portofino, sailed to Cannes, they are now enjoying St Tropez. Beyonce was using The Altitude’s Yamaha waverunner when she had her mishap, which she has used regularly on the trip. The only thing that was bruised was probably her ego as her friends in the nearby boat looked on.
