What are SERVERS? In computer lingo, a SERVER is also known as a client machine, or more precisely, a computer that acts as a point of contact between servers and clients. In network architecture, a SERVER is a single piece of hardware or software which provides basic functionality for client machines or other devices, termed “clients.” In this architecture, the SERVER is always on (or very near to be on) so as to provide functional support for various HTTP, SMTP, or FTP commands. The SERVER is not intended to do anything other than to provide a gateway through which requests can be passed from client to MYIP Servers.

When you talk about SERvers, you are talking about machines that are meant to maintain a stable connection with the rest of the world. They are used by desktop computers as well as laptops, although the latter are commonly referred to as “laptop servers.” They are also used to provide fast, efficient connections for home users as well as larger companies. For instance, they are often used in data centers where huge numbers of desktop computers connect to the mainframe computers in order to facilitate smooth processing of huge amounts of web traffic.

A web server consists of many different components, including a host operating system (a piece of software that coordinates the operation of all the components of the web server, or the SERVER), application servers, and web servers. Applications servers are responsible for accepting requests from clients, acting on them, and delivering results. Host operating systems are responsible for communication with the outside world, for controlling the SERVERS, and for keeping applications (such as language modules) and data safe. Web servers themselves are typically accessed by web browser applications, and command and control protocols (COPACOLOGY) that operate the SERVERS. Finally, there are administrative servers such as back up and restore services, application and database servers, and external email servers.

A supervisor is an actual physical device, typically an external appliance, that allows one or more servers to act like a “virtual machine” independent of any specific computer hardware. There are many types of supervisors, including true multitasking, where each application is able to run on its own CPU and RAM and can be individually rebooted, isolated, or placed in co-mingled mode with other virtual machines. Another type of hypervisor is virtualization, in which only one piece of hardware is needed to operate multiple servers. Virtual servers are particularly popular in cloud computing environments in which many different servers may share resources like RAM and CPU. The most common form of virtualization is OpenVZ, which is a kernel-based virtualization toolkit. More advanced virtualization technologies include Xen, which is based on the Linux kernel and is used in most corporate servers; and Hypervisor-as-a-Service (HAS), which is used in very large scale data centers that require extensive control over the execution environment and management of individual supervisor environments.

There are two major types of SERVERS, client-side and server-side. Client-side SERVERS allow the use of one HTML server to host multiple client computers. These SERVERS are often used for single-page applications. They allow the developer to have full control over the look and feel of the website. These SERVERS are available as stand-alone programs or as libraries that can be incorporated into existing code.

The second main category of SERVERS is hardware based. Hardware-based SERVERS are very similar to client-side SERVERS, except that they connect to mainframe computers instead of the user’s personal computer. Hardware-based servers are normally found in high-end computing centers. In many cases, these SERVERS are the preferred choice because of the increased efficiency and reliability that they provide. This type of SERVER is called a mainframe computer system, or mainframe computer system software. Hardware-based SERVERS have also significantly advanced since their inception, incorporating state-of-the-art microprocessors and multi-core processors.
