Hellfire Pass
To visit Hellfire Pass, travel from Kanchanaburi to Nam Tok. It costs around PS35 and you can take a taxi back to Kanchanaburi. Tours from Kanchanaburi Pae usually spend half an hour at the pass. If you don’t want to join a tour, you can walk to the Three Tier Bridge and the Pack of Cards bridge to see the scenery. Whether you’re hiking, biking, or simply taking a walk through the jungle, this scenic route is one of the best things to do in Kanchanaburi.
The railway is no longer in operation. Instead, the area is a memorial to World War Two, highlighting the efforts of Australian and New Zealand soldiers to supply the POWs. This area is also the site of a memorial held annually on Anzac Day, in honour of those who died on the Death Railway. The memorial is also used to honor other construction projects made by the Death Railway. It has been called “A Place of Honour” by visitors.
Erewan Waterfall
There are numerous ways to get to the Erewan Waterfall in Kanchanabrim, Thailand. You can book a tour from any of the numerous tour operators, agencies, or hotels, and most will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. Depending on your time and budget, you can opt for a group or private tour. During your visit, you can enjoy other attractions in the area, too.
Erawan Waterfall has seven levels, so be prepared to get wet! You’ll want to wear an orange vest if you want to swim. Besides that, you shouldn’t eat anything once you reach the second plateau. Sai Yok Noi Falls

You can reach Kanchanaburi via train. Trains leave from Thonburi Train Station in Bangkok at 7:50 AM and 1:35 PM. From there, take the 1:35 PM train back to Bangkok. This way, you can view both sections of the Death Railway and the breathtaking scenery from both sides. But remember that the climb is quite challenging. You need to be prepared for hot weather.
Cave temple
One of the most unusual tourist attractions in Kanchanaburi is the Dragon Head Cave Temple. Located inside of a giant dragon’s mouth, this temple is accessible by a series of stairs and caves. At the top of the mountain, a chedi towers over 200 metres high. To reach the top, visitors must assemble in groups and make their way to the top. The experience is not for the faint of heart, and tourists should be aware of the sweltering heat.
The entrance is on the right if you are approaching from the river, or on the left if you are coming from the road. Before you enter, you will notice Buddha images lining the path. Museum
If you are interested in history, you will แพกาญจนบุรี like the World War II Museum in Kanchanaburi Pae. This museum was founded by Rod Beattie, an Australian expatriate who lived in Thailand for more than 18 years. His work included 14 years of service with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. In addition to wartime relics, the museum also displays utensils, statues, and weapons from both sides of the conflict.
The first section of the museum is devoted to the Allied POWs who worked on the Death Railway. The museum displays several dozen old photographs, most of which are not in great condition, but nonetheless provide an insight into the emaciated lives of the men and women who worked in these camps. Another section showcases a painting of a POW begging for rations. If you want to learn more about these men, then this is the place for you.
Train ride to Kanchanaburi Pae
There are several ways to reach Kanchanaburi Pae from Bangkok. Buses to the destination leave from both the north and south stations of Bangkok. Most of them leave every hour, so you can buy your ticket well in advance. For the bus trip to Kanchanaburi, you should board the 9918 bus. A first class bus ticket costs 122 THB (approx. $10 USD) and includes a bottle of water. A second class bus ticket costs 95 THB, but does not include free snacks.
Getting from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi is easy. There are daily trains that leave from Thonburi Train Station in Bangkok Noi. They take about two hours to get to the destination. If you don’t have your own car, you can rent one in Bangkok. A four-seater car starts at 300 THB. Other car dealerships in Bangkok also offer car rental. If you don’t want to hire a car, you’re best off getting a cab.
