Wilder Makes Jokes
While attending a recent press conference, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder made jokes about fellow boxer Tyson Fury. When asked about his thoughts on Fury, Wilder said, He’s a great entertainer. He does a lot for the sport. When pressed further, Wilder stated, I don’t really have too much to say about him. He’s just another opponent. There’s nothing else I can do but focus on my training and show up and perform at my best when we face each other. That’s all that matters. When he was asked if he felt Fury had been given any special treatment by the judges or commentators, Wilder replied:
No one has ever been given anything in boxing. You come out there and you put your gloves on and you fight and you give it your all because this is what we train for–to win these belts–and this is what we want. And no one has ever been given anything in boxing so I’m not going to worry about it either way.
